ROLE: Technical Design/ Development/Production
Libertine is an LA based luxury fashion brand. I accepted this position before I graduated design school. I joined the team as a design intern, but quickly grew an affinity towards product development and was promptly brought onboard full-time following the completion of my degree. I loved the problem solving aspect of development. Libertine experimented with many non-traditional fabrics and trim such as rugs, shower curtains, and flags. Swarovski crystal embellishments, in-house screen printing, and extensive hand embroidery were just some of the techniques used for each collection. The use of these materials led to many challenges in the development and production phases. These challenges provided me a platform to think critically and approach obstacles in a creative way.
On a daily basis, I would conduct factory visits, source fabric and trim, update tech packs, draft technical sketches, and spec garments. Additionally, I contributed in fitting sessions, issued PO’s, and maintained a digital database of our inventory.
